Peter Van Huffel - saxophones, compositions |
The Peter Van Huffel Quintet performed together frequently around New York City and abroad starting in the spring of 2004 and for the entire duration of Peter's New York residency. They are a group that plays with an improvised elasticity and an ability to lead the music in numerous unpredictable directions at any given moment. Their first official CD,“Silvester Battlefield,” was released on the Fresh Sound / New Talent Record label in the summer of 2007, and received rave reviews on both the performances and compositions featured on the album. Geoff Chapman of the Toronto Star says: “The sounds are never too dense, the approach is adaptable and each band member is acutely aware of his colleague's creative aims” and Jim MacNie of New York's Village Voice has called the album “one of the more memorable Fresh Sounds discs in a while.” Also, make sure to check out the Peter Van Huffel Quintet's first live recording "On Common Ground" available for sampling and purchasing on the Music page. Reviews on this group and "Silvester Battlefield" are available on the Press page. |

The trio has toured throughout the US, Canada and Europe, and performs regularly in New York City. Their first independent recording was released in January 2008 and features eleven improvisations recorded in Ziv's own practice studio... Related link: http://www.myspace.com/animalforum
